Story Details

Lily loved her doll. The doll had one shiny button. Lily always wore funny socks. One sock was red. One sock was blue.

Oh no! The button was gone! Lily’s doll looked sad. Lily felt sad too.

She saw a wet sparkle. It was a dewdrops trail.

The trail went by the big rose bush. She saw another wet sparkle. The trail went under the tall sunflower. She saw another wet sparkle. The trail went past the busy beehive.

Lily followed the drops. She heard a chattering sound.

It was a squirrel! He had a button. It was her doll's button!

The squirrel looked at Lily. He held the button tight. Lily stomped her foot. “Give it back!” she said.

The squirrel chattered louder. He climbed the oak tree.

Lily shook the tree. The squirrel dropped the button!

It fell on a soft leaf. Lily picked it up.

Her doll would be happy now. Lily felt happy too.
