Story Details

Barnaby was a blue-striped zebra. He loved red apples. He ate only red apples.

One sunny morning, the red apples were gone.

Barnaby looked under the big bush. No red apples. He peered behind the tall rock. No red apples.

His tummy rumbled. It rumbled loudly.

Barnaby stomped his hoof. He looked up. A tiny green apple hung high on a branch. It was so small!

Barnaby stretched his neck. He could not reach. He pouted. He jumped. Still too low.

Then Barnaby saw a long stick. He picked it up.

He poked the apple. It wiggled. It did not fall. He poked harder. The apple wiggled more. It did not fall.

He pushed with all his might. The tiny green apple wobbled. It dropped! Plink!

Barnaby sniffed the green apple. It smelled good. He took a bite. Crunch!

It was sweet. It was juicy. He ate the whole thing. His tummy stopped rumbling. He smiled. A small apple was good.
