Hello! This is Mai. Today is a very big day at school because it is the Annual Talent Show. The gymnasium is filled with rows of chairs, bright lights, and a big red curtain. Mai is standing backstage, feeling a little bit like she has butterflies dancing in her tummy.

Mai is going to perform a Traditional Dance. She is wearing a beautiful silk dress with long, flowing sleeves. She learns that practicing her steps every day was hard work, but it helps her feel more prepared. She takes a deep breath to stay calm and focused.

Backstage, Mai meets her friend Leo. Leo is wearing a funny hat and carrying three bright orange balls. He is going to show his Juggling Skills. "Are you nervous?" Leo asks. Mai nods, and they realize that even the bravest performers feel a little bit scared sometimes.

The show begins! The first act is a group of boys playing the Recorders. They play a cheerful tune together. Mai watches from the side and learns that Teamwork is a great way to make music. She claps loudly for them because she knows how hard they practiced.

Next up is a girl named Lan who tells Funny Jokes. The whole room erupts in laughter. Mai notices how Lan’s confidence makes everyone else feel happy. She learns that a good performance isn't just about being perfect; it’s about sharing Joy with the audience.

Now it is Leo’s Turn. He walks onto the stage and starts tossing the balls. He drops one at first, but he just smiles, picks it up, and starts again! Mai learns that Resilience is important. If you make a mistake, you just keep going and have fun anyway.

Finally, the announcer says, "Next up is Mai!" She walks out into the bright light. At first, the audience looks like a blur of faces, but then she sees her teacher smiling. She remembers her first move and begins to dance. The Music starts to flow through her.

As Mai dances, she forgets about her nerves. She focuses on the rhythm and the way her sleeves wave in the air. She is learning the power of Self-Expression. When you do something you love, your heart feels light, and the "butterflies" in your tummy disappear.

Mai finishes her dance with a graceful bow. The audience cheers and whistles! She feels a giant wave of Pride. She realizes that the scariest part was just the waiting. Once she started, she was having too much fun to be afraid anymore.

After the performances, all the children go back onto the stage for a Final Bow. They hold hands and wave to their parents and teachers. Mai realizes that the talent show isn't a competition; it’s a Celebration of all the different things they can do.

In the hallway, Mai’s mom gives her a big hug. "You were wonderful!" she says. Mai’s friends all high-five each other. They talk about their favorite parts of the show. Mai learns that Supporting Each Other makes the school feel like one big, happy family.

The talent show is finished. Mai hangs up her silk dress carefully. She feels taller and more confident than she did this morning. She realized that trying something new and standing in the spotlight is a great way to grow. If you were in a talent show, what would your special act be?
