Story Details

Hello! This is Mai. Today, she is walking in a snowy forest. But the snow is not cold; it is white coconut flakes! In the middle of the forest, she finds a giant house made of cookies. It is the Gingerbread Castle!

First, Mai walks up to the front door. The door is a big piece of Chocolate. Mai learns about Smell. The whole castle smells like cinnamon and sweet sugar. She knocks on the door, and it goes Knock, knock!

Next, the door opens. The floor is made of pink Strawberry Wafers. Mai learns about Patterns. The tiles are squares and rectangles. She hops from one pink square to another, all the way into the big hall.

Now, Mai sees the windows. They are made of clear Yellow Candy. Mai learns about Light. The sun shines through the candy and makes the whole room look golden and bright. It is very beautiful!

Suddenly, Mai meets the Cookie King. He is a round gingerbread man with white icing buttons. Mai learns about Greetings. She says, "Hello, Mr. King!" and the king gives her a little bow.

The King shows Mai the Throne. It is a giant cupcake with purple frosting. Mai learns about Softness. When she sits down, it feels like sitting on a big, yummy cloud. She feels like a little princess.

Next, they go to the Garden. The trees are made of green mint chocolate. Mai learns about Nature. She sees small birds made of marshmallows. They don't fly; they just bounce around the cookie grass!

Suddenly, a river of Hot Cocoa flows by. Mai learns about Heat. The cocoa is warm and has tiny white bubbles on top. She uses a candy cane as a straw to take a tiny sip. Yum!

Mai sees a wall made of Donuts. She learns about Shapes. Some donuts are circles, and some look like stars. She helps the King put a new strawberry donut on the wall to fix a hole.

Now, it is time for a Party. All the cookie people come to dance. Mai learns about Music. They play songs by tapping on chocolate drums. Mai claps her hands and dances with her new friends.

The sun begins to set. The castle starts to glow with a soft orange light. Mai learns about Time. She knows it is time to go back to her real home for dinner. She says "Goodbye" to the Gingerbread King.

Finally, the King gives Mai a small Gingerbread Heart. Mai learns about Kindness. She puts the cookie in her pocket. Even when she leaves, she will always have a piece of the magic castle with her.

Mai’s cookie adventure is finished. She walks back through the coconut snow. She realized that Life is Sweet when you are kind to everyone. If you lived in a gingerbread castle, would your bed be a giant marshmallow or a big chocolate bar?
