Story Details

Hello! This is Na. Today is a very windy day. Na goes to the big park with a beautiful kite shaped like a Purple Butterfly.

As soon as she lets go of the string, the kite pulls her up! Whoosh! Na is flying into the Sky of Kites.

First, Na looks at her hands. She learns about Connection. She is holding a thin, strong string. The string is like a telephone line between her and the ground. She feels the wind pulling and dancing at the other end.

Next, Na meets a Diamond Kite. She learns about Shapes. The diamond kite is red and yellow with a very long tail. The tail wiggles like a snake in the air to help the kite stay balanced and not spin around.

Now, they fly into a Cloud of Confetti. Na learns about Festivals. In the sky, there are hundreds of kites! Some look like dragons, some like fish, and some like giant stars. The sky looks like a big, moving coloring book.

Suddenly, the wind gets very Strong. Na learns about Power. Her butterfly wings flap fast. Na learns to lean back and find the rhythm of the wind. She feels like a bird gliding over the treetops.

Next, Na sees a Bird's Nest. She learns about View. From the sky, she can see a mama bird feeding her babies in a tall oak tree. Na waves quietly so she doesn't scare them. Everything looks so peaceful from above.

Now, Na reaches the Rainbow Arch. Na learns about Colors. Her purple kite flies through the blue, green, and yellow stripes of a real rainbow. The kite's wings start to sparkle with tiny drops of rain and sun.

Suddenly, a Little Cloud bumps into them. Na learns about Mist. The cloud feels like a cold puff of steam. It plays hide-and-seek with Na, covering her eyes and then moving away with a giggle of wind.

Next, Na meets an Old Paper Kite. She learns about History. The paper kite is thin but very wise. "I have flown here for many years," says the kite. It teaches Na how to catch the "warm wind" to fly even higher.

Now, it is time for the Sunset Dance. Na learns about Harmony. All the kites in the sky move together in a big circle. They look like colorful petals falling slowly as the sun turns the sky into a deep orange.

The wind begins to Whisper. Na learns about Landing. The air becomes soft and quiet. Na’s feet touch the green grass of the park again. Tap, tap. She is back on the ground, but her heart is still in the clouds.

Finally, Na rolls up her string. She learns about Patience. She knows the wind will come back another day. She folds her butterfly kite carefully and puts it in its special bag.

Na’s kite adventure is finished. She tells her mom, "I danced with the dragons today!" She realized that With a little wind and a string, you can reach the stars. If you had a kite, would it be shaped like a fast dragon or a beautiful butterfly?
