Story Details

Hello! This is Po. He is a little brown bear who loves the forest. Today, the sky turns grey and big raindrops start to fall: Pitter-patter, pitter-patter! Po doesn't want to get wet, so he finds a giant, green Lotus Leaf.

First, Po holds the leaf over his head. He learns about Shelter. The leaf is very wide and round. The rain hits the leaf and goes Tap-tap-tap, but Po stays perfectly dry. It smells like fresh water and green grass.

Next, Po walks to the pond. He learns about Waterproof. He sees that the raindrops don't soak into the leaf; they turn into tiny silver beads and slide right off! Po thinks they look like beautiful rolling pearls.

Now, Po meets Flop the Frog. He learns about Sharing. Flop is hopping in the mud. "Come under my leaf, friend!" says Po. Now, the bear and the frog are both safe and dry under the big green umbrella.

Suddenly, they see a Butterfly with wet wings. Po learns about Kindness. The butterfly cannot fly because her wings are heavy with rain. Po holds the leaf very still so the butterfly can rest and dry her wings.

Next, Po hears a Tiny Squeak. He learns about Listening. It is a family of field mice. They are shivering in the cold. Po lowers his leaf to make a "Green Tent" for the mice. Everyone feels warm and cozy together.

Now, it starts to Thunder. Po learns about Bravery. Boom-boom! The sound is loud, but Po is not scared. He knows his friends are safe under the leaf. They tell funny stories to forget about the loud noise.

Suddenly, Po sees a Thirsty Flower. He learns about Balance. He tilts his leaf to let some water fall onto a drooping daisy. The flower drinks the water and lifts its head. "Thank you, Po!" whispers the flower.

Next, the rain starts to stop. Po learns about Freshness. The air smells sweet, and the dust is gone. Po shakes his leaf, and a thousand tiny diamonds fly into the air. The forest looks clean and new.

Now, a Rainbow appears in the sky. Po learns about Reflections. He looks into a puddle and sees himself, the frog, and the butterfly. They all look very happy. The sun makes the wet leaves sparkle like jewels.

The sun comes out, and it is time to go home. Po learns about Purpose. He puts the lotus leaf back near the pond so the fish can hide under it. He realizes that one leaf can help many friends.

Finally, Po reaches his cozy cave. He learns about Comfort. He has a warm drink and thinks about his rainy day. He realized that the rain is not sad; it is just the forest taking a bath.

Po’s rainy adventure is finished. He tells his mama, "I was a giant green mushroom today!" He realized that A little kindness can keep everyone dry. If it rained today, would you share your umbrella with a frog or a butterfly?
