Next, Mai starts to Paint. She learns about Expression. She uses bright red and yellow to draw a big sun and a happy house. Drawing makes Mai feel calm and happy again. She can't wait to show her art to her family.
Now, it is Story Time. She learns about Listening. Ms. Lan reads a book about a brave little rabbit. Mai sits very still and listens to every word. She loves the pictures of the green forest and the blue sky.
The day is Finishing. She learns about Routine. Mai helps her friends put the toys back in the boxes. She puts on her backpack and waits by the door. She feels very proud because she was a "big girl" all day.
Then, Mai sees her Mom at the gate. She learns about Reunion. Mai runs into her mom's arms for a big hug. "I did it, Mom! I went to school!" shouts Mai. Her heart is full of happy stories to tell.
Finally, Mai goes home. She learns about Growth. She realized that school is a place for friends, games, and learning new things. "I want to go back tomorrow!" says Mai. Her first day was a wonderful adventure.
Mai’s school adventure is finished. She tells her teddy bear, "I made a friend named Nam today!" She realized that Starting something new can be scary, but it ends with a smile. If you went to school with Mai, would you play with the blocks or draw a picture?
