Mai and Her First Day at the Pool
Join Mai on her first exciting, yet slightly daunting, trip to the swimming pool! This story follows Mai as she learns all about safety, bravery, and the joy of water, making new discoveries with each splash and bubble. Perfect for little ones facing new experiences.
Hello! This is Mai. Today is a very hot day. The sun is bright, and the air is warm. Mai is going to the Swimming Pool! She is wearing a cute blue swimsuit with white polka dots. Mai feels excited, but the big pool looks a little bit scary.
First, Mai puts on her Sunscreen. She learns about Protection. Mom rubs the white cream on Mai’s arms and nose. "This keeps your skin safe from the sun," says Mom. Mai feels a bit slippery, like a little fish!
Next, Mai puts on her Inflatable Armbands. She learns about Safety. The orange armbands are full of air. They help Mai stay on top of the water. "Now you have two little balloons to help you float!" says Dad.
Now, Mai walks to the Small Pool. She learns about Depth. This pool is not deep. The water only touches Mai’s knees. She feels the cool water on her skin and starts to splash softly. Splash-splash! It feels wonderful.
Suddenly, Mai sits on the Steps. She learns about Temperature. The water feels a bit cold at first. Mai puts her toes in, then her legs. "One, two, three!" She slowly lowers her body until she is sitting in the water.
Next, Mai tries to Blow Bubbles. She learns about Breathing. She puts her mouth near the water and blows. Glub-glug-glub! Big bubbles come out. Mai laughs. Blowing bubbles is like making a secret soup in the pool.
Now, Dad holds Mai’s Hands. She learns about Balance. Mai kicks her legs back and forth. Kick-kick-kick! The water turns into white foam. Mai is moving forward! She feels very strong and fast.
Suddenly, a Big Splash comes from the slide. She learns about Bravery. Another child is jumping into the water. Mai is not scared anymore. She knows that the water is a fun place to play and make friends.
Next, Mai tries to Float on her Back. She learns about Trust. Dad puts his hand under her back. Mai looks up at the blue sky and the white clouds. She feels as light as a feather floating on the water.
Now, it is time for a Game. She learns about Coordination. Dad throws a yellow ball, and Mai reaches out to catch it. Moving in the water is like dancing in slow motion. It is very good exercise for her little arms.
The swimming lesson is Finished. She learns about Hygiene. Mai goes to the shower to wash off the pool water. She uses her fluffy towel to dry her hair. She feels very hungry and sleepy after all the splashing.
Then, Mai has a Healthy Snack. She learns about Energy. She eats a sweet banana and drinks some water. "You were a brave little fish today, Mai!" says Mom. Mai feels very proud of her new skill.
Finally, Mai goes Home. She learns about Achievement. She realized that the pool is not scary at all. She can't wait to go back and learn how to swim without her armbands. "I love the water!" whispers Mai as she falls asleep.
Mai’s swimming adventure is finished. She tells her teddy bear, "I learned to fly in the water today!" She realized that Trying new things makes you stronger and happier. If you went to the pool, would you blow bubbles or kick your legs fast?
