The Missing Pencil

It’s a sunny morning. The children are excited to start their art class. Everyone is smiling and getting their school supplies ready.

Lily takes out her new shiny pencil with stars on it. Her friend Tom looks at it and really wants one just like that.

When Lily goes to sharpen her crayons, Tom quietly takes her pencil and hides it in his bag.

Lily returned to her seat and could not find her pencil in her bag. She looked upset and started asking her friends if they had seen it.

Tom feels guilty. He sees Lily’s sad face and realizes what he did was wrong.

Tom walks to Lily and says, “I took your pencil. I’m really sorry.” Lily is surprised but smiles kindly.

Lily forgives Tom and says, “Thank you for telling the truth.” They shake hands and laugh together. Now both of you understand that honesty makes your relationship stronger.
