Every morning, Nia sat by her window, watching sunlight spill across her room. She loved how it made her curtains glow pink and her toys shine like treasure.

One day, the light looked different. It wasn’t just yellow — it turned red, blue, and green on the wall! “Grandpa!” she called. “The sun is painting!”

Grandpa chuckled. “That’s the sunlight playing a trick called refraction,” he said. “It means the light is bending — like when you peek through water in a glass.”

“Can I catch a rainbow?” she asked. “You can try,” said Grandpa, smiling. “Light likes to dance, not sit still.”

That night, Nia dreamed of flying with beams of light sliding down golden sunrays, jumping over moonbeams, and twirling with starlight in her hair

The next day, she made her own “window of colors.” She taped pieces of clear paper red, blue, yellow on the glass. When sunlight passed through, the whole room glowed like candy!

Soon the neighborhood kids came to see. They painted their own paper windows too some with hearts, others with stars and animals.

At sunset, the children sat together, watching the light fade. “Even when the light goes away,” said Nia softly, “it leaves colors inside us.”

From then on, Nia called it her Window of Colors a place to remember that every light, like every friend, makes the world brighter when it’s shared.
