One morning the sky turned dark gray. A huge storm cloud pressed down and wouldn’t leave.
The big birds said, “Only the wind can push it away, and the wind is sleeping.”
Sky flapped her little wings. “I will wake the wind!” Everyone laughed kindly.
She flew higher than she ever had — past the rooftops, past the hills.
She found the wind napping in a cave. “Please wake up! The sky is stuck!”
The wind yawned. “I’m too tired. Only a thousand wings can wake me.”
Sky flew back and sang the sweetest song she knew to every bird in the world.
