Every person has feelings and emotions. We show them on our faces and in our bodies.

Emotions are what we feel inside. Sometimes they are strong, sometimes they are gentle.

When we feel happy, we smile and laugh. Our eyes shine and our hearts feel light.

When we feel sad, our mouths turn down. Sometimes we cry and that’s okay.

When we feel scared our hearts beat fast. We might hide, hold someone’s hand or freeze in place.

When we feel hungry our stomachs growl. We may feel cranky or weak.

When we feel tired our eyes close slowly. We might yawn, stretch or want to lie down.

When we feel surprised our eyes open wide. Our mouths may drop open.

When we feel thirsty our mouths are dry. We need a drink of water.

When we feel excited our bodies wiggle with energy. We clap, bounce or giggle.

When we feel angry our faces get tight. We might frown, cross our arms or shout.

When we feel calm our faces relax. We breathe slowly and our bodies feel light.

When we feel shy we may look down or stay quiet. Sometimes we smile a little, but softly.

When we feel proud our chests lift tall. We smile big because we worked hard.

Even though we look different, every person feels the same feelings sometimes.
