Hello! This is Dusty the little Fennec Fox. Dusty lives in the hot, sandy Desert. The desert is very dry, hot during the day, and cold at night!

Dusty has giant Ears! His ears are not just for hearing; they help him stay Cool. The large surface of his ears lets out heat so he doesn't get too hot in the sun.

Dusty’s fur is the color of the Sand. This helps him hide from bigger animals, which keeps him safe. His fur is like a natural camouflage!

In the desert, it is hard to find water! Dusty mostly gets his water from the Plants and small bugs he eats. He is very good at finding food with water inside it.

Dusty sees a huge, strong friend! It is Caramel the Camel. Camels have a big Hump that stores fat. This fat gives them energy when there is no food or water for a long time.

Caramel the Camel has very Wide and flat Feet. These wide feet help him walk easily on the soft, deep sand without sinking!

When the sun is too hot, Dusty hides! Many desert animals live in Burrows—holes dug under the ground. The earth underground stays cool, even when the air is burning hot.

During the Night, the desert becomes very Cold and the sun is gone. Dusty and many other desert animals come out at night to hunt for food.

Dusty meets a tiny Lizard. The lizard runs very quickly across the hot sand on its small legs. The lizard is fast to avoid getting burned by the hot ground!

Even plants are tough in the desert! The Cactus plant has thick skin to hold water inside. It has sharp Spines (thorns) to stop animals from eating its precious water.

Dusty and his desert friends are very special. They have amazing ways to live in the dry heat. They are strong and tough!

Every animal is perfect for where it lives. Dusty’s big ears and the camel's hump help them thrive. What amazing feature does your body have?
